An accident
Yesterday, While I was drinking with a friend of mine at a restaurant in Man Thien Street, I saw a man on his motorbike crashed into a car, which was parked along the street. He and the motorbike fell over. There were some locals and drivers stopped their vehicles to help him. One of his leg was broken and bleeding, then a local gentlemen gave him first aid by covering the injury with a piece of cloth.
He passed out, so another lady called an ambulance. But after 5 minutes there’s no ambulance came, then we noticed that the man was conscious again, he could open his eyes and said some words. He felt really hurt and his leg was still bleeding, so a lady called him a taxi, then people helped him to get into the cab and heading to a nearby hospital. I think he’s fine now. About his motorbike and the car there’s just a small dent, scratches and no significant damage found.
He was drunk at the time, so couldn’t control the speed. Driving after drinking alcohol is common in Vietnam and this is the biggest factor which causes traffic accidents across the country. Recently, the government is cracking down on people who violate the regulation. I hope with this reinforcement the number of accident cases will go down. After seeing the crash, we stopped drinking and went back home with the feeling of upset and shaken up by what we just saw.
Please be careful for yourself and for others. When we go out for a drink, let’s take a taxi or grab, because you cannot know what might happen when you are drunk. To be afraid of death, be responsible for your life and your loved ones.
