4 amazing values from books

Book, the bridge that connects you to a brighter future!

I have always believed in long life learning, today’s cutting edge technology will soon become outdated. It will be updated or even be replaced by a better version.
And the same thing will happen to us, what you know today sooner or later will be outdated, so never standstill keep learning and improving yourself. Book is the best tool for us, to update, to become a better version of ourselves. What sets us apart from others is our knowledge, so why not make yourself become a more valuable individual. A huge amount of knowledge, experiences, stories, thoughts… inside a book that we can learn from. We just need to read-think-filter-absorb.

I love reading, especially economic and personal development books, when I was a student I used to read for both relaxation and to learn about a variety of topics from technology to finance, marketing (I love reading about this field), biography, and more. However, working, teaching and social media burn most of my time, so time for reading is also changed a bit. Now, I focus on topics that needed. Such as technical documents for my corporate job, English materials for teaching, and some about investment techniques.

Here are 4 great benefits that reading book brings to me!.

1. Mental health

Just like any muscle in your body, the brain also needs to do exercise to be strong and healthy. So it is crucial to train your brain, and reading is one of the best way to keep your mental system stay healthy, and working efficiently.

Reading is also help to relieve your stress, No matter how much stress you have at work, in your personal relationships, or countless other issues faced in daily life, it all just slips away when you immerse yourself in a great story, or find out a good thought from the author. Letting tensions fade away and allowing you to relax.

2. Learn from others

5 tips to stay focused on learning, working

The more knowledge you have, the better-equipped you are to deal with challenges you have to take knowledge from you. Although what you learn from books are theories, other people’s experiences but learning through books is the least expensive way to learn. Reading help me to I learn how to avoid the mistake others made, learn how to invest, how to communicate effectively, etc. It’s not as costly as “life university” the most expensive place to learn. You might lose all of your money, all of your relationships to learn a simple lesson. Someday while reading a story, you suddenly realize the character in the story has made the same mistake you did. You sit there and regret about what you did and wish that you could read that story sooner.

The reason I chose the slogan “learn to learn” for this website is also about learning. Most of good learning materials are in English version from economy, education, technology, medical, science, novel, song to updated information. So understanding English will lead you learning to learn everything. This is great! Isn’t it.

Whenever I want to do something I always think about the result first. Recall about the time I want to learn English, not about any certificates, not about scholarships, but it was all about communicate with others, about learn more things.

Books have been changing my life, so I always encourage my students try to read at least one book a month. Just find a topic that you want to know and grab a book to read, believe me, it will significantly improve your knowledge. Why do I say that? when you want to learn English, to understand and to communicate the first thing you need to know is vocabulary of the language. The same logic can be applied in learning any field, the more you read, the more vocabulary you gain and the more understand you get.

3. Understand

For sure lesson from life is much more valuable and memorable than in the book, sometimes book and reality combined together and give us a big lesson. Below is an illustration!

After the first year of working, I have saved up a bit of money, And decided to invest a part of that in the stock market. I’ve read and absorbed tons of principles about Warren Buffet and how he has been investing, how to become an “intelligent investor”. Fully confidence that I can make a huge fortune in this market. I  jumped into, chose and analyzed companies then picked some for my portfolio after few months it was not going well, even though the Market Index (VNINDEX) was going up. But my stocks were standstill, despite the financial statement of those listed companies were really good. Emotionally I sold them all and bought other stocks that had “good news”, and did not care much about their financial report. Amazingly, the price of those stocks increased, I sold that and made money, and just like that I was become speculator not an investor. Put all of the capital to buy and sell. My naively thought of stock market is a place to make easy money, and believe that I’m much wiser than the market. But you know what? I lost a half of my account after a year of speculating like that. Then I realized if I stick with companies that have good record, good business foundation. I can make much more money, and all those thing I’ve read. Book + Time + Reality have taught me a big lesson.

4. Focus and Concentration moment

When I read a book, all of my attention is focused on the story, the rest of chaos thoughts just fade away, just focus on the present moment. I can immerse myself in every detail. But we are in the world of distractions, it’s not easy to stay focus on one task, a single person need to do too much things simultaneously.

So let’s designate for yourself a place, time for just reading and thinking. And enjoy!
